This season in Ukraine, the average grain yield is 3.9% lower than last year, rapeseed yield is 11% lower, and export rates are 50% lower.

According to operational data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, as of August 21, 2025, 27.252 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were threshed in Ukraine from 6.7 million hectares (60% of the planned amount) with an average yield of 4.07 tons/hectare.

 

It is worth noting that the harvest rate reached last year's level - as of August 22, 2024, grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine were harvested on 61% of the area (6.76 million hectares), but the average yield is 3.9% lower than a year ago (4.23 t/ha). The total gross harvest a year ago was estimated at almost 28.6 million tons.

 

As of August 21, 2025, the following has been collected:

  • wheat – 21.01 million tons from 4.873 million hectares (98%) with a yield of 4.31 tons/hectare (4.47 tons/hectare a year ago),
  • barley – 4.971 million tons from 1.305 million hectares (95%) with a yield of 3.81 tons/hectare (3.93 tons/hectare),
  • peas – 581.7 thousand tons from 258.6 thousand hectares (106%) with a yield of 2.24 tons/hectare (2.21 tons/hectare),
  • buckwheat – 1.3 thousand tons from 0.5 thousand hectares (1%) with a yield of 2.49 tons/hectare,
  • millet – 3.09 thousand tons from 3.5 thousand hectares (5%) with a yield of 0.88 tons/hectare.

 

Rapeseed harvesting is nearing completion, with 3.163 million tons of rapeseed harvested from 1.283 million hectares (101% of the planned amount) with a yield of 2.47 tons/hectare (2.76 tons/hectare).

 

Harvesting of sunflower (2.2 thousand hectares were threshed in Odessa and 1 thousand hectares in Dnipropetrovsk regions) and soybeans has also begun. From the first 3.2 thousand hectares, 1.8 thousand tons of sunflower were harvested with a yield of 0.56 tons/hectare. Soybean harvesting began in Kharkiv region (0.03 thousand hectares), where 0.1 thousand tons were threshed with a yield of 2.67 tons/hectare.

 

According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in the 2025/26 MY (as of August 22), Ukraine exported 3.398 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, including 1.733 million tons in August.

 

At the same time, as of August 23, 2024, 6.385 million tons were exported, in particular in August - 2.683 million tons.

 

By crop, the following were exported in the current season:

  • wheat – 2.034 million tons (in 2024/25 MY – 3.089 million tons),
  • barley – 504 thousand tons (1.089 million tons),
  • rye – 0 (0.3 thousand tons),
  • corn – 846 thousand tons (2.185 million tons).

 

Total exports of Ukrainian flour as of August 20 amounted to 7.6 thousand tons (in the 2024/25 MY - 9.2 thousand tons), in particular wheat - 7.3 thousand tons (8.4 thousand tons).
