Ukrainian farmers are completing the harvest of wheat, barley, peas and rapeseed, and the pace of exports has dropped sharply
As of August 17, 2026, 34.6 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were threshed in Ukraine from 7.9 million hectares or 61.2% of the projected areas (+5.25 million tons per week) with an average yield of 4.38 tons/ha, while last week it was 4.3 tons/ha.
In terms of cultures, the following were collected:
- wheat – 23.82 million tons (+4.08 million tons per week) from 4.86 million hectares or 94.1% of the area with an average yield of 4.91 tons/hectare,
- barley – 6.24 (+0.56) million tons from 1.44 million hectares or 96.7% of the area with an average yield of 4.34 tons/hectare,
- peas – 779 (+66.7) thousand tons from 295.7 thousand hectares or 98.8% of the area,
- rapeseed – 3.76 (+0.538) million tons from 1.32 million hectares or 99% of the area with an average yield of 2.85 tons/hectare.
The leaders in threshing are Odesa (4.82 million tons), Dnipropetrovsk (2.55 million tons) and Kirovohrad (2.42 million tons) regions, which provided 32% of the harvested grain harvest.
During the week, farmers in Odessa (762 thousand tons), Khmelnytskyi (647 thousand tons) and Vinnytsia (636 thousand tons) regions harvested the most grain.
The harvest of wheat, barley, peas, and rapeseed is nearing completion, and further harvest figures will depend on the results of the harvest of later crops - corn, soybeans, and sunflowers.
According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in the 2026/27 MY (as of August 12), Ukraine exported 2.952 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, of which 280 thousand tons in August, while last year, as of August 15, 2.818 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were exported, of which 1.153 million tons in August.
By crop, the following were exported:
- wheat – 1.239 million tons (of which in August – 175 thousand tons),
- barley – 333 (37) thousand tons,
- corn – 1.376 (0.068) million tons.
In addition, since the beginning of the season, 2.8 thousand tons of flour have been exported (of which 0.9 thousand tons in August), in particular wheat flour - 2.7 (0.8) thousand tons.
