The selling price of flour in Ukraine has almost equaled the cost price

The profitability of flour production in Ukraine is currently 3%, and this is a fairly high indicator, said S. Sakirkin, head of the audit commission of the State Enterprise "Flour Mills of Ukraine" in an interview with APK-Inform.

"Bread producers often demand that flour mills reduce flour prices, believing that processors have too high profits. However, if we see real prices for bread in stores, then the prices for flour that mills call are declarative, and the actual sales prices are 10-15% lower," the expert said.

Currently, premium flour is sold at a price of 13,700-13,900 UAH/t, which is almost equal to the cost price, since prices for grade 2 wheat have reached 10,300 UAH/t, and the cost of processing is 2,500 UAH/t and higher.

However, bread farmers have small-scale production and can offset the low margin of ordinary bread production with high profitability of premium varieties, so small-scale packaging of flour will not significantly help flour millers, since the sales volumes of such products are insignificant, noted S. Sakirkin.
