Parliament plans to ban the use of palm oil in the production
the Parliament in the first reading adopted the draft law No. 3871, which banned the use of palm oil in the manufacture of food products, milk and its products, and will provide for administrative liability for violation of these requirements.
the Project provides for the relevant amendments to the Code of administrative offences.
Production and trafficking in Ukraine, for produce not satisfying the requirements of standards, norms, certification, safety and quality, including products that contain palm oil, except in accordance with the exemption Law, will be punished by the imposition on officials of organizations and enterprises of all forms of ownership penalties in the amount of 20-100 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens. For the second violation committed within a year, the penalty will be increased to 100 to 200 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.
in addition, there will be changes in article 27 of the Law "On milk and dairy products", which will prohibit the use in said palm oil products.
This bill is consistent with the decision of who to 2023 to eliminate completely from food products manufactured trashin acid (main product margarine), because every year more than 500 thousand people in the world die from cardiovascular diseases caused by consumption of food with TRANS fats.
Recall that TRANS fats are contained in natural milk and meat products, and also produced artificially. Due to its low cost and long shelf life, manufactured transgirl acid have become a popular substitute for conventional oil, and the most common form of such acids is margarine.
