USDA unexpectedly raised its corn crop forecast significantly for the U.S. and China, which led to a sharp 6% drop in Chicago quotations and once again reminded the market that global corn production in the 2025/26 MY will exceed last season’s level by 66 million tonnes!
The forecast for global wheat production was also increased by 4.36 million tonnes to 842 million tonnes, compared with 800 million tonnes last season, which is also putting pressure on prices.
The forecast for the global soybean crop was raised due to higher production in Brazil, so soybean quotations are also declining.
Strikes on Ukraine’s ports continue, reducing export demand from traders, so prices will remain under pressure from this factor as well.
