Legal entities have intensified the purchase of agricultural land in Ukraine

For the fourth month in a row, activity on the agricultural land market in Ukraine is increasing. In October, 11,300 contracts for the sale of plots with a total area of more than 25,200 hectares were concluded, which is the highest figure for the entire period of full-scale invasion, KSE Agrocenter reports in a new analytical review.
Thus, in October, compared to September, the number of concluded agreements increased by 13%, and the total turnover of land - by 11%, which is 62% and 69% higher than the average monthly indicator of 2023, respectively.
The activity of legal entities in the land market is constantly increasing, although the total share of transactions concluded by them decreased from 27.7% in September to 23.4% in October, as individuals also sharply increased their activity. In total, since the beginning of 2024 (since the opening of the land market for legal entities), 1,318 companies have used the right to buy and sell, of which 458 companies purchased at least one plot of land in October.
KSE Agrocentr experts believe that the share of agribusiness in the land market has a significant potential for growth, since in Ukraine, according to official data, 23.5 thousand people are engaged in the cultivation of grain and leguminous crops and another 18.5 thousand - in the production of sunflowers.
The average price of buying and selling agricultural land in October remained stable and amounted to UAH 44.8 thousand. per hectare (by 0.7% less than in September), while the price of a hectare of land designated "for commercial agricultural production" decreased by 1.5% compared to September to UAH 46.2 thousand.
