In Ukraine, soybeans and sunflowers have been harvested on 22-25% of the area compared to 49% a year ago

Ukraine is experiencing a delay in ripening and harvesting of late crops in 2025, but as harvesting accelerates in the center and west, average yields are improving. Dry and warm weather in the next 7-10 days will allow for accelerated harvesting.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of September 18, 2025, 29.77 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were threshed from 7.089 million hectares or 62% of the planned harvesting area (11.475 million hectares) with an average yield of 4.2 tons/hectare.

Recall that as of September 19, 2024, 31.875 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were harvested from 7.511 million hectares (68% of the forecast) with an average yield of 4.24 tons/hectare.

On the specified date, the following amount of late grain crops was harvested:

  • corn – 388.7 thousand tons from 90.3 thousand hectares (2.2%) with a yield of 4.31 tons/hectare (last year, 13% was threshed on this date, and the yield was 4.7 tons/hectare);
  • buckwheat – 57.1 thousand tons from 38.6 thousand hectares (56%) with a yield of 1.48 tons/hectare (74%, 1.44 tons/hectare);
  • millet – 45.35 thousand tons from 37.6 thousand hectares (51.4%) with a yield of 1.64 tons/hectare (74% 2.31 tons/hectare).

The gross harvest figures for wheat were also updated upwards - 22.477 million tons, barley - 5.330 million tons, and peas - 626.6 thousand tons.

Also, as of the reporting date, the following amount of oilseeds was harvested:

  • sunflower – 2.415 million tons from 1.373 million hectares (26.7% of the plan) with a yield of 1.76 tons/hectare (49%, 2.01 tons/hectare);
  • rapeseed – 3.302 million tons from 1.275 million hectares (101.3%) with a yield of 2.59 tons/hectare (100%, 2.72 tons/hectare);
  • soybeans – 945 thousand tons from 483.7 thousand hectares (22.3%) with a yield of 1.95 tons/hectare (49%, 2.04 tons/hectare).

At the same time, the harvesting of sugar beets continues in Ukraine, of which as of September 19, 632.5 thousand tons were harvested from 12.7 thousand hectares (6.4% of the planned amount) with a yield of 50.0 tons/hectare (14%, 47.33 tons/hectare).

Export rates are also significantly lower than last year due to lower wheat prices and low stocks of the old corn crop, as well as delayed harvests.

According to the State Customs Service, in the 2025/26 MY (as of September 17), Ukraine exported 5.512 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, in particular in September - 1.385 million tons, while last year on this date 9.28 million tons of grain were shipped, of which in September - 1.814 million tons.

In total, as of the specified date, the following was exported:

  • wheat – 3.87 million tons (5.267 million tons last year), of which in September – 1.222 (1.484) million tons,
  • barley – 0.706 (1.2) million tons, in September – 131 (94) thousand tons,
  • rye – 0 (7.5) thousand tons, in September 0 (7.2) thousand tons,
  • corn – 0.9 (2.549) million tons, in September – 19 (213) thousand tons.
