The rental rate for Ukrzaliznytsia's grain trucks will increase in October for the first time in four months

From October 1, the rental rate for grain wagons of the Transport Logistics Center branch of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC will increase to 3,371 UAH/day excluding VAT after four months of no change at the level of 3,271 UAH/day.

Also, the rate for using wagons for transporting flour of conventional type 972 will increase by 200 UAH/day compared to August — to 403 UAH/day.

The rental rate for tank cars for transporting food products in October will increase from 1,600 UAH/day to 1,750 UAH/day, while the rental rate for a gondola car will remain unchanged at 1,750 UAH/day.

Additional pressure on the cost of rail logistics is created by long idle times of wagons at the western borders awaiting unloading or replacement of wheelsets.

Over the past month, the cost of rail transportation has increased by 25–40%, and the situation continues to be complicated by slow reloading and shipment of cargo onto European wagons.

The increase in Ukrzaliznytsia rates, together with the increase in the actual cost of transportation, will increase the logistics costs of exporters and may put additional pressure on domestic grain purchase prices.
