MARS predicts that in 2025, rapeseed yields in the EU will be 9% higher than last year

The MARS agricultural monitoring service on Tuesday increased the forecast for the average yield of soft wheat in the EU from 6.00 to 6.03 t/ha compared to March estimates, which will exceed the 2024 figure by 8%. At the same time, the forecast for rapeseed yield was left unchanged at 3.2 t/ha, which will be 9% higher than last year.

A dry March is worsening harvest prospects in northeastern Europe, while crops in Turkey are suffering due to cold and drought.

In Central and Northern Europe, dry weather is exacerbating soil moisture deficits, negatively affecting winter crop development. At the same time, in southern Europe, heavy rains are improving soil moisture and crop prospects.

In the EU, corn and sunflower sowings continue and spring barley and sugar beet sowings are almost complete. In central and eastern regions, rains and periodic cold spells have delayed sowing, so additional precipitation is needed for initial plant growth.

Yield forecasts for Europe remain favorable, with above-average yields in Spain and Romania in particular, while yields in eastern Ukraine and the western Maghreb region, where drought continues, will be significantly below average.
