The port is located on the shore of the Kerch Bay. The port approaching channel departs from the enikalsky knee Kerch-to the enikalsky channel (KEK) 1.1 miles to the Cape Beliy, and leads to a Wide pier of the port. In addition to the internal waters of the designated port: the water area of the approach channel width of 80 m with a buffer zone width of 100 meters from right and left edges of the channel; the water area of the Kerch-enikalsky channel width of 120 m from buoy No. 1 to buoys No. 51, 52, Pavlovsky, Burunskiy, Enikalsky Tusks and knees with a security zone width of 100 meters from right and left edges of the channel. The port is open for ships all year round, if there is ice in Kerch Strait, the possible shifts of heavy ice on the channels through the constant change of currents and wind direction. In such circumstances permission for a vessel's passage gives the Central regulation of movement of vessels (tsrds) in each case. In the port can enter the vessels up to 200 m, with a draught of 8 m. The length of the Strait is 22 km, the greatest width between Kerch and the Eastern part of Taman Gulf, is 22.5 miles, the smallest one is about 2 miles between the port of Crimea (Ukraine) and port Kavkaz (Russia). Kerch-to the Enikalsky channel is available for vessels up to 215 m and with draught up to 8 moshnosti the port can handle 2.5 million tons of cargo per hour. The port is equipped with modern equipment, transshipment machines and mechanisms, which allows to handle General cargo (metal products, machinery, etc.), bulk cargo (ferroalloys, pig iron, scrap, iron ore pellets), containers, wheeled vehicles, grain in bulk. 1 in port production transshipment complex. The port has 7 berths with a total length of 1224 m. the Approach lines enables cargo to be handled at the front and in the rear of the berths. The total open cargo storage area is 139 639 sqm In the port's 8 sheltered warehouses for storage of General cargo with a total area of 11 812 sq. m, capacity of 82 987 tons of cargo.
