Soybean and sunflower harvest in Ukraine is slower than last year

Ripening and harvesting of late crops in Ukraine is delayed, but as work progresses in the central and western regions, average yields are improving. Dry and warm weather in the next 7-10 days will allow for accelerated harvesting.

 

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of September 21, 32.952 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were threshed from 7.015 million hectares or 61% of the planned area in Ukraine with an average yield of 4.7 tons/ha, while last year, as of September 18, 29.77 million tons of grain were harvested from 7.089 million hectares or 62% of the area with an average yield of 4.2 tons/ha.

 

In terms of cultures, the following were collected:

• corn – 339.8 thousand tons from 67.9 thousand hectares (1%) with a yield of 5 tons/hectare (in 2025, 388.7 thousand tons were harvested from 90.3 thousand hectares (2.2%) with a yield of 4.31 tons/hectare, in 2024, 13% of the area was threshed, and the yield was 4.7 tons/hectare),
• buckwheat – 37.1 thousand tons from 26.6 thousand hectares (55%) with a yield of 1.39 tons/hectare (in 2025 – 57.1 thousand tons from 38.6 thousand hectares (56%) with a yield of 1.48 tons/hectare, in 2024 – 74% and 1.44 tons/hectare),
• millet – 62.2 thousand tons from 26.9 thousand hectares (66%) with a yield of 2.32 tons/hectare (in 2025 – 45.35 thousand tons from 37.6 thousand hectares (51.4%) with a yield of 1.64 tons/hectare, in 2024 – 74% and 2.31 tons/hectare),
• sunflower – 1.5 million tons from 756 thousand hectares (14.5%) with a yield of 1.98 tons/ha (in 2025 – 2.415 million tons from 1.373 million hectares (26.7%) with a yield of 1.76 tons/ha, in 2024 – 49% and 2.01 tons/ha),
• soybeans – 655.4 thousand tons from 328 thousand hectares (21%) with a yield of 2 tons/hectare (in 2025 – 945 thousand tons from 483.7 thousand hectares (22.3%) with a yield of 1.95 tons/hectare, in 2024 – 49% and 2.04 tons/hectare).

 

Rapeseed harvesting has been completed, with 3.857 million tons harvested from 1.33 million hectares with a yield of 2.9 tons/ha (in 2025 – 3.302 million tons from 1.275 million hectares (101.3%) with a yield of 2.59 tons/ha, in 2024 – 100% and 2.72 tons/ha).

 

In addition, as of September 21, 19.3 thousand tons of sugar beets were harvested from 450 hectares (0.3% of the area) with an average yield of 42.89 tons/ha (in 2025 - 632.5 thousand tons from 12.7 thousand hectares (6.4%) with a yield of 50 tons/ha, in 2024 - 14% and 47.33 tons/ha).
