Corn harvesting in Ukraine began a week earlier than in the previous season

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of August 29, 28.712 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were harvested in Ukraine from 6.802 million hectares or 62% of the area with an average yield of 4.22 tons/ha. In the Cherkasy and Poltava regions, 29.7 thousand tons of corn were collected from the first 6.6 thousand hectares with a yield of 4.5 tons/ha.

Also collected on the specified date:

• sunflower – 419.4 thousand t from 256.5 thousand ha or 5% of the area with an average yield of 1.63 t/ha (1.11 t/ha last week, 1.86 t/ha last year),
• soybeans – 381.8 thousand tons from 223.7 thousand hectares or 8% of the area with an average yield of 1.71 tons/ha (1.09 tons/ha last week, 2.43 tons/ha last year),
• rapeseed - 3.4 million tons from 1.23 million hectares or 98% of the area with an average yield of 2.77 tons/ha (2.81 tons/ha last year),
• wheat - 21.76 million tons from 4.8589 million hectares or 100% of the area with a yield of 4.48 tons/ha (4.79 tons/ha last year),
• barley - 5.5 million tons from 1.3992 million hectares or 100% of the area with a yield of 3.92 tons/ha (3.98 tons/ha last year),
• peas - 458.5 thousand tons from 207.6 thousand hectares or 99% of the area with a yield of 2.21 tons/ha (2.59 tons/ha),
• millet - 45.5 thousand tons from 24.7 thousand hectares or 28% of the area with a yield of 1.84 tons/ha,
• buckwheat - 18.3 thousand tons from 12.4 thousand hectares or 14% of the area with a yield of 1.48 tons/ha,
• sugar beet – 56.9 thousand tons from 1.2 thousand ha or 1% of the area with a yield of 49.48 tons/ha.

The rate of grain export from Ukraine is 60.9% higher than last year. According to the State Customs Service, in 2024/25 MR (as of August 30), 6.989 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were exported, of which 3.287 million tons were exported in August, while in 2023, for the same period, 4.343 million tons of grain were shipped, in particular in August – 2.069 million tons.

In total, since the beginning of the season, the following have been exported:

• wheat - 3.593 million tons (1.884 million tons last year), of which 2.047 million tons in August,
• barley - 1.096 million tons (0.443 million tons last year), 515 thousand tons in August,
• rye - 0.3 thousand tons (0.6 thousand tons last year), in August - 0,
• of corn - 2.273 (1.97) million tons, in August - 713 thousand tons.

In addition, in the new season, 11.3 thousand tons of flour were exported (6.5 thousand tons in August), of which 10.4 (6) thousand tons of wheat were exported, compared to 22.4 thousand tons for this period last year.
