The purchase price for barley in Saudi Arabia fell to 23 $/t

Saudi Arabia is the world's largest importer of feed barley, so it tenders the main price indicators for the world market. Due to heavy rainfall in the past and this year, the country reduced import of barley.

The lowest price is 183,03 $/t, the highest – 212,48 $/t since 14 cargo will be delivered to the ports of the red sea, and another 6 cargo to the ports of the Persian Gulf.

At the previous auction on January 24 SAGO acquired 15 cargo for delivery in March, April at an average price of 222,4 $/t CFR-ports of the red sea and 230,8 $/t CFR ports of the Persian Gulf.

Such a big difference in prices is due to the fact that some of the barley will be shipped from the new crop in the Black sea.

In Ukraine, the price of barley of the old crop is gradually lowered and is now at the port 145-146 $/t or 4800-4850 UAH/t, while in the middle of the season was up to 170 $/t Forecasts of a good harvest of barley in Russia and the EU, and the resumption of production in Australia will be much pressure on barley prices in the new season.
