Another 5% of corn areas were threshed in Ukraine in a week, but 17% of crops remain unharvested
Last week, rainy weather prevailed in Ukraine without frost, which did not allow increasing the pace of harvesting late crops, so farmers managed to thresh only 211 thousand hectares or 5% of corn areas, while the percentage of harvested sunflower areas remained at 93%.
According to operational data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, as of December 11, 55.471 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were threshed in Ukraine from 10.767 million hectares or 92% of the planned area, with an average yield of 51.5 centners/hectare.
In particular, on the specified date, the following number of late crops was collected:
- corn – 25.366 million tons from 3.655 million hectares or 83% of the area (+5% per week) with a yield of 6.94 tons/hectare,
- buckwheat – 82.7 thousand tons from 59.4 thousand hectares or 97% of the area (0%) with a yield of 1.39 tons/hectare,
- millet – 62.1 thousand tons from 35.8 thousand hectares or 88% of the area (0%) with a yield of 1.74 tons/hectare,
- sunflower – 9.064 million tons from 4.818 million hectares or 93% of the area (0%) with a yield of 1.88 tons/hectare,
- soybeans – 4.78 million tons from 2.017 million hectares or 98% of the area (+1%) with a yield of 2.37 tons/hectare.
The harvesting of sugar beets is almost complete, with 10.726 million tons harvested from 197.2 thousand hectares or 99% of the planned area, with an average yield of 54.38 tons/hectare.
Grain export rates from Ukraine remain low due to restrained sales by producers who have not yet fully harvested their crops, so they expect further price increases.
In the 2025/26 MY (as of December 11), Ukraine exported 13.521 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, of which 1.137 million tons in December, while last year as of December 13, 19.359 million tons of grain were exported, in particular 984 thousand tons in December, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reports, citing operational data from the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
By crop, the following were exported in the current season:
- wheat – 7.569 million tons (in 2024/25 MY – 9.175 million tons),
- barley – 1.22 million tons (1.898 million tons),
- rye – 0.2 thousand tons (10.8 thousand tons),
- corn – 4.524 million tons (7.969 million tons).
Total exports of Ukrainian flour in the 2025/26 MY (as of December 11) amounted to 29.9 thousand tons (in the 2024/25 MY – 34.7 thousand tons), in particular wheat flour – 29 thousand tons (34.7 thousand tons).
