The harvest of early grains in Ukraine is slightly smaller than last year, but the export rate is significantly lower than last year's

According to operational data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, as of August 28, 2025, 24.371 million tons of grain and legume crops were threshed from 6.888 million hectares (61% of the planned) in Ukraine with an average yield of 4.12 t/ha, while as of August 29, 2024, 28.712 million tons of grain and legume crops were harvested from 6.802 million hectares (62% of the planned) with an average yield of 4.22 t/ha.
On the specified date, collected:
- wheat – 21.858 million tons from 5 million hectares (98%) with a yield of 4.37 tons/hectare;
- barley – 5.159 million tons from 1.343 million hectares (97%) with a yield of 3.84 tons/hectare;
- peas – 585 thousand tons from 262.3 thousand hectares (96%) with a yield of 2.23 tons/hectare;
- buckwheat – 10.2 thousand tons from 7.7 thousand hectares (10%) with a yield of 1.33 tons/hectare;
- millet – 11.6 thousand tons from 7.4 thousand hectares (12%) with a yield of 1.56 tons/hectare.
The harvesting of oilseed crops is also underway, with the following threshed as of August 28:
- sunflower – 13.2 thousand tons from 15.4 thousand hectares (0.3%) with a yield of 0.86 tons/hectare;
- rapeseed – 3.193 million tons from 1.274 million hectares (101%) with a yield of 2.51 tons/hectare;
- soybeans – 10.4 thousand tons from 7.3 thousand hectares (0.1%) with a yield of 1.43 tons/hectare.
In the 2025/26 MY (as of August 29), Ukraine exported 4.014 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, which is 1.6 times or 2.732 million tons less than last year, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Compared to the previous season, exports decreased:
- wheat - 1.3 times or 834 thousand tons to 2.553 million tons,
- barley – 2 times to 562 thousand tons,
- corn – 2.5 times or by 1.359 million tons to 882 thousand tons,
- flour – 1.1 times or 1.9 thousand tons to 9.2 thousand tons (or 12.2 thousand tons in terms of grain).
At the same time, rye has not yet been exported this season.
