A Ukrainian sailor died as a result of a Russian strike on a civilian vessel in the Black Sea

On the night of September 23, the Russian Federation struck a civilian cargo ship in the Black Sea, causing a fire on board and killing the captain, a Ukrainian sailor, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration reported.

The crew of the vessel, registered under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, was evacuated with the help of the Ukrainian Navy, and the fire was extinguished.

The USPA expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased sailor and called on the world to "properly assess the targeted terror of the Russian Federation against civilian shipping and people who ensure the operation of sea routes."
