Naval forces announced temporary corridors in the Black Sea for merchant ships

The Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the creation of temporary corridors for the movement of merchant ships to/from the ports of Ukraine.

New temporary traffic routes to/from the Black Sea ports of Ukraine have been announced in accordance with the order of the navigation order of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine No. 6 dated 08.08.23. At the same time, the message emphasizes that there is a military threat and mine danger from the Russian Federation on all routes.

Recently, Ukraine proposed these routes in an appeal to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), whose council recognized Ukraine's right to free commercial shipping guaranteed by international maritime law.

"Temporary routes will primarily be used for the exit of civilian vessels that have remained in the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdenny since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022," the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Movement on the specified routes will be allowed only to those vessels whose owners/captains have officially confirmed their readiness to sail in the current conditions.

We will remind that the last ship with Ukrainian food left the port of Odesa on July 16, and already on July 17, the work of the grain initiative stopped due to the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from it.
