The spring sowing campaign in Ukraine has reached the finish line

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of May 25, 5.637 million hectares of area were sown with grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine (or 94% of the planned 6.3 million hectares), and 6.266 million hectares (or 87% of the planned 7.238 million hectares) of area were sown with industrial crops.

 

In particular, on the specified date the following were sown:

  • corn – 4.156 million hectares (94% of the plan),
  • barley - 709.9 thousand hectares (94%),
  • peas - 258.2 thousand hectares (94%),
  • spring wheat - 185.7 thousand hectares (100%),
  • oats - 137 thousand hectares (99%),
  • millet - 32.2 thousand hectares (80%),
  • buckwheat - 37.56 thousand hectares (66%),
  • sunflower – 4.342 million hectares (87% of the planned 5.004 million hectares),
  • soybeans – 1.737 million hectares (85% of the planned 2.04 million hectares),
  • sugar beets - 186.3 thousand hectares (95% of the planned 197.2 thousand hectares).

 

The most active sowing of oilseeds took place in Ukraine at the end of May. In the last week alone, farmers sowed 614.8 thousand hectares with sunflower and 401.2 thousand hectares with soybean. At the same time, in some western regions (Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Lviv), the areas sown with soybean and sunflower even exceeded the initial forecasts.
