The freight cost of barges on the Danube has more than doubled

Before the Russian Federation began shelling the Danube ports, the cost of barge freight was 18 €/t, while now it reaches 44 €/t, Dmytro Kazanin, the owner and head of the logistics and forwarding company Teus, told Latifundist in an interview about as reported by Rail.insider.

"Shipping continues, and quite actively. The cost of sea freight increased, but to a much greater extent - barge freight. If sea vessels are heading in different directions: to Cyprus, Egypt, Spain, etc., then all barges go to Constanta. And now barge transportation from Izmail to Constanta will cost 72-73 €/t with loading in the Romanian port," said D. Kazanin.

According to him, the cost of railway logistics is somewhat lower. On the way from Vadul Siret to Constanța, transshipment at the terminal at the border will be 15 €/t, transportation to the port is 40 €/t and transshipment at the port is 12 €/t, but currently the demand for such a route is very high.

As recently reported, the number of ships in the Danube ports decreased by more than 2.5 times during the week.
