Nearly 1 Million Hectares of Winter Grains Sown in Ukraine

As of September 23, Ukrainian farmers have sown 944.5 thousand hectares of winter grain crops, which is 18% of the planned area of 5.188 million hectares. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, citing operational data from the sowing campaign.
For comparison, as of September 25 last year, 1.141 million hectares of winter grains had been sown, which constituted 22.2% of the planned volume.
Specifically, as of September 23 this year, the following areas have been sown:
- Winter wheat: 878 thousand hectares (20% of the projected 4.479 million hectares);
- Winter barley: 45 thousand hectares (7% of the planned 638.5 thousand hectares);
- Winter rye: 20.7 thousand hectares (29% of the forecasted 70.5 thousand hectares).
Sowing of winter grain crops is ongoing in all regions of Ukraine except Luhansk.
Additionally, farmers in 18 regions continue to sow winter rapeseed. As of September 23, this crop has been sown on 862.2 thousand hectares, which is 77% of the projected area of 1.123 million hectares.
"Farmers in Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Rivne, and Ternopil regions have already completed the sowing of winter rapeseed," the ministry reported.
As of September 25, 2023, 1.038 million hectares have been sown with winter rapeseed in Ukraine, which is 85.7% of the planned area.
