In Ukraine, the harvest of major crops is lower than last year, in Russia – the highest

as a Result of moisture deficit in July and August, the yields of major grain and technical crops, especially maize and sunflower significantly decreased in comparison with the previous year. At the same time in Russia the yield of early grain crops is better than last year, and the harvest of late crops, such as sunflower, maize and sugar beet will also be reduced due to dry conditions.

According to Ministry of economy, as of October 29, in Ukraine 21.5 million hectares collected to 68.7 million tonnes, the major crops, in particular cereals and legumes, with 86% or 13.2 million hectares harvested 51.9 million tons at a yield of 3.93 t/ha. On this date in 2019 was collected 66,2 million tons with a yield of 4.71 t/ha, in 2018 58.9 million tons with a yield of 4.36 MT/ha.

98% of area or of 77.3 thousand hectares of buckwheat 99.5 thousand tons with a yield of 1.29 t/ha (in 2019 is 1.32 t/ha, 2018 – 1,26 t/ha)

with 48% of the area or 105.6 thousand hectares of sugar beet 4.4 million tons with a yield of 41.6 t/ha (in 2019 - for 43.7 t/ha, 2018 was 48.5 t/ha).

• with 94% of the area or 6 million hectares of sunflower 11.9 million tons (in 2019 – 13.9 million tonnes) with the yield of 1.99 t/ha (in 2019 - 2,45 t/ha, 2018 – of 2.24 t/ha),

the reduction in the export production of grain and leguminous crops from Ukraine decreased and as of October 30 made up 15.97 million tonnes to 2.67 million tonnes inferior to the corresponding indicator 2019

In comparison with last year:

corn exports fell to 1.73 mln t to 2.22 million tons,

export of barley increased by 100 thousand tons to 3.37 million tons,

flour exports decreased by 49.8 thousand tons to 61.8 thousand tons, including wheat – 51.2 thousand tonnes to 59.7 thousand tons.

In Russia as of October 29, with the 45.8 million ha or 97,2% of the area harvested amounted to 133, 4 million tons of grain with yield of 2.91 t/ha (2,59 t/ha in 2019), in particular:

from 80.4% of the area, or 2.3 million hectares of soybeans at 3.9 million tons (2019 – 4.2 million tonnes) with the yield of 1.71 t/ha (in 2019 - 1,67 t/ha, 2018 – 1,56 t/ha),

from 88.5% of the area or 820 thousand hectares of sugar beet 29.5 million tons (in 2019 – 47 million tons) with a yield of 35.9 t/ha (in 2019 - 46,19 t/ha, 2018 – 36,84 t/ha).

• with 99.5% of the area or 28.9 million hectares of wheat 87.5 mln t (in 2019 – 77,6 million tons) with a yield of 3.03 t/ha (in 2019 - 2,82 t/ha, 2018 – 2.79 t/ha)

Increasing production strengthens in the world market the export position of Russia as a supplier of wheat, barley and sunflower oil, increasing competition with Ukraine.
