In Ukraine, the cost of rail transportation of grain has been significantly reduced

Since July 1, the cost of transportation of grain cargoes by railway has significantly decreased in Ukraine, primarily due to the decrease in the cost of the wagon component. This was reported by the deputy director of the department of commercial work of Ukrzaliznytsia V. Tkachyv in the "Zhd Logistics" Telegram channel.

According to his data, the cost of using grain wagons of the Ukrainian Railways since July 1 is UAH 300/day without VAT. And the transportation of 1 ton of grain by rail for a distance of up to 300 km will cost $9.4/t for export and $11.4-11.9/t for export via land crossings. Transportation of grain up to 400 km will cost $11.7/t and $13.7-14.3/t, up to 500 km – $13.4/t and $15.4-16.3/t, up to 600 km - $15/t and $17.2-18.2/t, respectively.

The cost of transportation takes into account additional fees at the departure station (2500 UAH/wagon), two days of use of the wagon during loading and unloading, use of the wagon, freight charges, return of an empty wagon, etc.

In addition, for better predictability of the work of shippers with UZ rolling stock, the company's management decided to record the average speeds of the carrier's wagons for 1 quarter (until September 1). Previously, this indicator was updated monthly, which was announced by the 28th of the previous month.

This will improve the planning of work with UZ wagons by shippers, who will be able to more accurately calculate the cost of transportation.
