Almost 1 million hectares of winter rapeseed have been sown in Ukraine, despite adverse weather conditions

As of October 7, 2025, Ukrainian farmers had sown 3.5 million hectares of winter crops, which is 47.4% of the planned area, compared to 3.8 million hectares a year ago, the Ministry of Economy reports.

Yes, currently sown:

  • winter wheat - 2.3 million hectares or 49.1% of the planned (2.6 million hectares last year);
  • winter barley - 179.2 thousand hectares or 31.1% (208 thousand hectares);
  • winter rye - 45.7 thousand hectares or 66% (45.9 thousand hectares).

Among the leaders in terms of sown areas are Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Poltava regions.

As for winter rapeseed, it was sown on 985.3 thousand hectares, which is 88.4% of the planned volume, which is slightly less than a year ago (986 thousand hectares).

The largest areas of crops are in Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsia and Mykolaiv regions. Farmers in 13 regions have already completed sowing rapeseed.

The heavy rainfall that has covered Ukraine will contribute to the development of rapeseed crops, especially in the south, where there has been a prolonged drought this season.
