In the Russian Federation, 30 million hectares of land are unused, but 5 million hectares can be quickly put into circulation

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation is working on the creation of a single federal map-scheme, for which it received data from 36 regions on 174 million hectares of agricultural land.

The total area of agricultural land in the Russian Federation is 379.8 million hectares, of which 197 million hectares are agricultural land. The area of unused land is estimated at 31 million hectares.

Scheme maps have already been created for 36 regions, where there are 174 million hectares of agricultural land, of which 13 million hectares are not used, but 5.4 million hectares of them can be quickly put into circulation. In total, it is planned to digitize lands in 37 regions in 2024, and the creation of the map will be completed at the end of 2025.

In addition, the department announced "package" offers for investors that will become available this year. They will provide for the selection of areas for the cultivation of the most popular agricultural crops, taking into account the characteristics of the soil and climate, the prioritization of tasks for the regions regarding the introduction of state cadastral accounting of the relevant land plots with their subsequent transfer to farmers for specific production with the provision of appropriate state support.

There are more than 60 million hectares of land in Ukraine, of which 42.7 million hectares or 70% are agricultural lands. Almost 40% of Ukrainian agricultural lands are fertile chernozems.

The expansion of cultivated areas in the Russian Federation and the intensification of agricultural production will strengthen the influence of Russian grain on the world market, as well as strengthen its competition with Ukrainian grain.
