Argentina completes wheat harvest, with harvest set to exceed previous record by 25%
Argentina's perfect weather conditions have led to a record wheat harvest, according to analysts at Rosario Grain Exchange. If the country receives ample rain in January, soybean and corn yields could also be very high.
Currently, 13% of Argentina's wheat crops remain unthreshed, and experts at the country's two main grain exchanges predict that its harvest will reach 27.1-27.7 million tons, which would exceed the previous record of 22.2 million tons harvested in the 2021/22 MY by 25%.
Argentina is one of the world's largest grain exporters, and the agricultural sector is a major source of foreign exchange earnings.
Dry weather helped combine harvesters and trucks work in the country's fields and rural roads. Argentina's wheat crop experienced near-perfect weather throughout all stages of development, leading to record yields, according to the Rosario Grain Exchange.
"In winter, when the crops were in the vegetative stage, the low temperatures they needed were observed. Then, a period of regular rains contributed to good tillering, ear development, and, finally, grain filling," the farmers report.
At the same time, soybean and corn are nearing maturity in the country, and their harvests also have good prospects. However, the final harvest will depend on the rains that will occur in January.
