USDA predicts increased canola production in Australia in the new season

According to the USDA FAS Annual Oilseeds and Processed Products Report, in 2025/26, Australia will increase its oilseed production, including canola, for the fifth consecutive year by 3.5% to 6.15 million tonnes, which will be the third highest in history. The increase in canola production will be facilitated by an expansion of the sowing area and improved yields.
Due to an increase in domestic canola processing by 18% to 1.3 million tons, its exports will decrease by 4% to 4.65 million tons, while canola oil exports will increase by 26% to a record 290 thousand tons.
Olive oil production is expected to fall to 22,000 tonnes due to the natural two-year yield effect, while cotton production is expected to fall to 1.08 million tonnes amid low prices and reduced availability of water for irrigation. Cotton processing is expected to rise to 50,000 tonnes, while exports are expected to fall by 43% to 400,000 tonnes.
