The government has allowed the extension of payment terms for grain and oilseed exporters to 180 days
The Government of Ukraine has increased the list of goods for the export of which the Ministry of Economy will be able to extend the payment deadlines established by the National Bank up to 180 days, if appropriate applications are received.
The list includes the main grain and oilseed crops - wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn, soybeans, rapeseed and sunflower, as well as soybean, sunflower, rapeseed and mustard oils, oilcake and other types of agricultural products.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy explains this step by a significant increase in delivery times by 40-50% due to problems with sea exports, which negatively affects the implementation of foreign economic contracts and delays the receipt of foreign exchange earnings.
Due to the blockade of Black Sea ports, Ukraine was able to ship only 33% of the required volume of agricultural exports in August. Exporters have increased deliveries through Danube ports and the western border, but their throughput capacity is limited, and severe congestion increases delivery times.
The decision taken by the government will allow exporters to avoid financial sanctions in cases where the delay in foreign exchange receipts is due to logistical problems.
However, the payment terms will not be extended automatically, but only after receiving the resident's application and the relevant conclusion of the Ministry of Economy.
