The yield of soybeans and sunflowers in Ukraine at the start of the season is lower than last year

According to the operational data of the Ministry of Agriculture, on September 5, 29.309 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were harvested in Ukraine from 6.957 million hectares or 63% of the area with an average yield of 4.19 tons/ha (4.38 tons/ha last year).

In particular, domestic farmers threshed:

• wheat - 21.859 million tons from 4.9 million hectares (100% of the area) with a yield of 4.54 tons/ha (4.72 tons/ha last year),
• barley - 5.481 million tons from 1.41 million hectares (100%) with a yield of 3.92 (3.87) tons/ha,
• peas - 461.6 thousand tons from 212.2 thousand hectares (100%) with a yield of 2.2 (2.5) tons/ha,
• corn - 457.5 thousand tons from 98.8 thousand hectares (2%) with a yield of 4.63 tons/ha,
• buckwheat - 45.4 thousand tons from 28.9 thousand hectares (32%) with a yield of 1.57 (1.42) tons/ha,
• millet - 78.8 thousand tons from 40.8 thousand ha (44%) with a yield of 1.93 (2.38) tons/ha.

In addition, the following was collected on the specified date:

• sunflower – 1.39 million tons from 780.8 thousand hectares (16% of the area) with a yield of 1.78 tons/ha (1.86 tons/ha last year),
• rapeseed - 3.415 million tons from 1.266 million hectares (100%) with a yield of 2.75 (2.87) tons/ha,
• soybeans - 1 million tons from 381.8 thousand ha (20%) with a yield of 1.86 (2.57) tons/ha,
• sugar beets - 188.9 thousand tons from 3.9 thousand hectares with a yield of 48.44 (44.96) tons/ha.

According to the State Customs Service, in 2024/25 MR (as of September 6), Ukraine exported 7.515 million tons of grain and legumes, of which 536 thousand tons in September, while for the same period in 2023, 4.884 million tons of grain were exported, with 297 thousand tons of them in September.

In total, since the beginning of the season, the following have been exported:

• wheat - 4.032 million tons (2.2 million tons last year), of which 439 thousand tons in September,
• barley - 1.106 million tons (0.522 million tons last year), in September 10 thousand tons,
• rye - 0.3 thousand tons (0.6 thousand tons last year), in September - 0,
• of corn - 2.356 (2.156) million tons, in September - 83 thousand tons.

In addition, 12.4 thousand tons of flour were exported in the new season (1.1 thousand tons in September), of which 11.3 (0.9) thousand tons were wheat, compared to 26.3 thousand tons for this period last year.
