Wheat and rapeseed harvest in Germany will exceed last year's

According to the forecast of the National Association of Agricultural Cooperatives of Germany, in 2025, wheat production in the country will increase by 13.6% compared to the previous year to 21.01 million tons, and rapeseed production by 5.6% to 3.82 million tons, although in April the yields of these crops were estimated at 21.41 million tons and 3.97 million tons, respectively, - Reuters reports.

Some crops were affected by late frosts and spring drought in the north of the country, so yields will be lower than forecast in April. However, recent rains have reduced the negative impact of the drought on crops, so production is expected to increase significantly, as expected.

The harvest of winter barley, which is mainly used as animal feed, will fall by 3.9% to 8.39 million tonnes compared to last year due to frosts and dry weather that damaged the plants. The production of spring barley, which is used to produce malt, will fall by 14.4% to 1.6 million tonnes, as a mild winter reduced the need to replant damaged winter crops with spring crops. The gross harvest of corn for grain will decrease by 6.2% to 4.6 million tonnes.
