Ukrzaliznytsia wants to raise freight tariffs by 45%

The management of Ukrzaliznytsia is requesting an increase in freight rates by at least 45% in order to continue the debt restructuring process and stabilize the company's financial condition, which has deteriorated due to losses caused by the war.

According to the chairman of the board of UZ O. Pertsovsky, the company can no longer compensate for the expenses of other sectors of the economy with its own funds.

A 45% tariff increase will not fully compensate for the company's losses, but it will cover almost half of the projected cash deficit, which will amount to UAH 26 billion in 2026.

The tariff increase is necessary not only to ensure the company's current liquidity, but also for negotiations with bondholders to attract investments and restructure existing debts.

There are no agreements with creditors yet regarding the restructuring of $1 billion in debt, but the company plans to present its proposals to them by July.
