Ukraine will be able to export 50 thousand tons of sunflower to Turkey every year without export duty
The Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey, which entered into force on October 1, provides for an annual quota for duty-free exports of Ukrainian sunflower seeds to Turkey of 50 thousand tons.
Within the quota, Ukrainian exporters are exempt from paying the Ukrainian export duty, the standard rate of which is 10%.
The quota will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so the right to duty-free exports will depend on the order of clearance of deliveries within the available 50,000 tons.
The Ukrainian export duty of 10% will continue to apply to volumes exceeding the established quota.
At the same time, the benefit applies only to Ukrainian export duties. The rates and conditions of sunflower import taxation directly in Turkey are determined separately by the Turkish side.
The introduction of the quota creates an additional sales channel for Ukrainian sunflower and may support export demand, although its volume of 50 thousand tons remains relatively small compared to the total supply on the domestic market.
