Ukraine collected more than 2 million tons of grain of the new crop

In 22 regions of Ukraine, early grain or leguminous crops have begun to be harvested, although the rains are somewhat delaying the work. So far, the average yield is better than last year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of July 14, 2.16 million tons of grain were harvested from 643.8 thousand hectares with a yield of 3.36 tons/ha, while last year on this date, 3.6 million tons of grain were threshed from 1.2 million hectares with a yield of 2.93 t/ha, and in 2021 at this time, 5.5 million tons of grain were threshed from 1.3 million ha with a yield of 4.16 t/ha.

In particular, on the specified date, domestic farmers collected:

• wheat - 714.6 thousand tons from an area of 211.8 thousand ha with a yield of 3.37 t/ha (1.7 million tons from 588.3 thousand ha with a yield of 2.88 t/ha in 2022 and a yield of 4.11 t/ha in 2021).
• barley - 1.652 million tons from an area of 352.4 thousand hectares with a yield of 3.84 tons/ha (1.8 million tons from 589.6 thousand hectares with a yield of 3.09 tons/ha in 2022 and 4.29 tons/ha in 2021),
• peas - 45 thousand t from an area of 93.7 thousand ha with a yield of 2.08 t/ha (77.3 thousand t from 42.1 thousand ha with a yield of 1.84 t/ha in 2022 and 2.28 t/ha in 2021).

The largest amount of grain was collected by the farmers of Odesa, who threshed 746,000 tons of grain from 242,000 hectares. And the total harvest of grain and leguminous crops, according to preliminary data, may amount to 45 million tons.

Harvesting of winter rape began in 12 regions, of which 329.5 thousand tons were threshed from 158 thousand hectares with a yield of 2.08 tons/ha, while last year on July 15, 259.2 thousand tons of rape were threshed from 133.7 thousand hectares with a yield 1.94 t/ha.

According to the State Customs Service, in the 2023/24 FY as of July 12, Ukraine exported 894,000 tons of grain and leguminous crops, which is 49% ahead of last year's pace and almost corresponds to the indicator of 2021 - 926,000 tons.

Yes, on the specified date, the following were exported:

• wheat - 283 thousand tons (119 thousand tons on this date last year and 248 thousand tons in 2021/22 MR),
• barley - 81 thousand tons (40 thousand tons and 180 thousand tons),
• corn - 529 thousand tons (435 thousand tons and 488 thousand tons).

The reduction of the harvest and the reduction of grain exports from Ukraine in the current season against the background of increasing the capacities of the Danube ports will ensure stable supplies to the world market, even in the event of difficulties in the operation of the Black Sea ports.
