Ukraine has increased the maximum draft of ships on the Danube to 6.5 m, which will allow to increase the export of grain

According to the order issued by the port of "Izmail" on February 16, the passing settlement of ships in the section from the 0th kilometer of the mouth of Bystre to the 77th kilometer of the mouth of the Kiliyske River of the Danube will be 6.5 m, and in the section from the 77th to the 116th kilometer of Kiliysky estuary - 7 m.

This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and reminds that previously the maximum subsidence in the specified areas was 3.9 m.

The department stated that "for the first time since the independence of Ukraine, it was possible to increase the allowable settlement of vessels. This will increase the safety of navigation between the Black Sea and the Danube River, as well as increase the flow of goods through the Danube ports. Such a significant increase in the maximum subsidence became possible as a result of the elimination of the effects of drifting, removal of soil sediments and rolling, and restoration of passport characteristics within the water areas of seaports of Ukraine."
