Ukraine completes the harvesting of late crops and continues the sowing of winter crops

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of October 24, 45.08 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were threshed in Ukraine from 9.757 million hectares or 88% of the area with an average yield of 4.62 tons/ha. Last year, on October 26, 43.366 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were harvested from 8.85 million hectares or 81% of the area with an average yield of 4.9 tons/ha.

So far, late cultures have been collected:

• corn - 15.415 million tons from 2.69 million hectares (67% of planned areas) with a yield of 5.72 tons/ha,
• buckwheat - 126.9 thousand tons from 87.5 thousand hectares (98%) with a yield of 1.45 tons/ha,
• millet - 159.45 thousand tons from 85.1 thousand hectares (92%) with a yield of 1.87 tons/ha,
• sunflower - 9.54 million tons from 4.63 million hectares (94%) with a yield of 2.06 tons/ha,
• soybeans - 5.621 million tons from 2.47 million hectares (93%) with a yield of 2.27 tons/ha,
• sugar beets - 8.26 million tons from 170.6 thousand ha (66%) with a yield of 4.84 tons/ha.

According to the State Customs Service, in 2024/25 MR (as of October 25), Ukraine exported 13.547 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, in particular in October - 3.099 million tons, while last year these figures were 8.562 and 1.81 million tons, respectively.

On the specified date, the following were shipped:

• wheat – 7.459 million tons (in particular, in October – 1.361 million tons),
• barley - 1.684 million tons (361 thousand tons),
• rye – 10.6 thousand tons (3.1 thousand tons),
• corn - 4.129 million tons (1.365 million tons).

In addition, in the current season, 24,400 tons of flour were exported (in particular, 5,600 tons in October), of which 22,300 tons (5,000 tons) of wheat were exported.

5.37 million hectares have already been sown with winter crops in Ukraine, in particular, 1.048 million hectares with winter rapeseed, and 4.33 million hectares with winter grain crops, namely:

• wheat - 3.8 million hectares,
• barley - 421.3 thousand hectares,
• with rye - 62.5 thousand ha.

In Ternopil Oblast, 100% of the planned areas have already been sown with winter cereals, in Volyn Oblast - 97.3% (161.1 thousand ha), Chernihiv Oblast - 97.2% (193.2 thousand ha), Poltava Oblast - 95.8% (238, 2 thousand hectares). Sowing of winter rapeseed has already been completed in 11 regions.
