Ukraine will fulfill the main demand of Polish carriers to unblock the Yagodin-Dorogusk railway line

The Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure has decided to temporarily suspend the requirement to have permits for Polish transporters who bring goods to Ukraine from any EU country, the press service of the ministry reports.

This will satisfy the main demand of Polish carriers and cancel the imposition of fines on them for the lack of permits for the transportation of goods from third EU countries to Ukraine, which will help to unblock the checkpoint "Yagodin-Dorogusk".

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine — the Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov believes that such transportation does not fall under the Agreement on cargo transportation between Ukraine and the EU and is not bilateral, and therefore requires permits. "We have now turned to the European Commission for clarification, and have suspended the imposition of fines for this period. And in general, in 2023, Ukrtransbezpeka made only 4 such resolutions on Polish carriers," Kubrakov added.

Currently, there are more than 5,000 trucks at the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint, which cannot enter Ukraine due to the lack of permits and non-compliance with the requirements of environmental standards of vehicles, but already on May 8, Polish carriers will be able to resume trips.

"It is impossible to distribute the cargo flow in the conditions of blocking the operation of sea ports. We are grateful to our Polish friends for their constant support in the confrontation with the aggressor and we are conducting a dialogue to unblock the border. Ukraine has taken the first step and is waiting for a response from Poland," Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach added.

We will remind that from 12:00 on May 4, Polish carriers started a strike in front of the Dorogusk checkpoint, which was agreed with the law enforcement agencies until June 3. The main reason for the strike was the cancellation of the permit system for Ukrainian carriers.
