Ukraine and Turkey agreed on resuming inspections of vessels moving along the grain corridor

At a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar, the Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine O. Kubrakov agreed on the resumption in the next three days of the temporary scheme of registration and inspection of vessels moving along the grain corridor.

The transitional scheme will be as follows: 50% of the ships will be inspected according to the list provided to the SCC by the Ukrainian side, and the other 50% will be the ships that are waiting in line for the longest time for inspection and ships of the UN food program. Currently, such a scheme has been agreed by Turkey, the UN and Ukraine, but negotiations on this issue will continue next week.

We will remind that since April 10, the Russian Federation stopped the registration of a new fleet in the Black Sea Grain Initiative, and also refused to work according to the plans of Ukrainian ports. This halted the drawing up of inspection plans and measures for new ships within the framework of the grain agreement. On April 17-18, no inspection was conducted in the territorial waters of Turkey and no inspection plans were drawn up.

On April 18, Ukraine offered to conduct two inspections of the incoming and two outgoing fleets, which was supported by Turkey, but was not implemented due to Russia's destructive position.

Russia is trying to regulate the work of Ukrainian ports by independently determining which ships can participate in the grain initiative, which violates the terms of the grain agreement and the agreed procedures of the SCC, and is therefore unacceptable to Ukraine.

Despite the agreement on the resumption of inspections, Ukraine continues negotiations with the UN and Turkey on ways to ensure full compliance with the terms of the grain agreement and compliance by all parties with their obligations.
