Ukraine continues to increase exports of agricultural products

According to the data of the SE "Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine", in September, the Black Sea ports increased the volume of cargo handling in comparison with September 2023 by more than 2 times from 3.4 to 7.1 million tons, in particular grain crops - from 2.3 to 4, 1 million tons, and ore cargoes - from 249,000 tons to 1.3 million tons. 6 million tons of cargo were exported through the Ukrainian sea corridor in September, of which 3.6 million tons were agricultural products.

 

For 9 months of the current year, the volume of cargo handling by Ukrainian ports increased compared to the corresponding period of 2023 from 41.1 to 74.2 million tons, while the handling of ships decreased from 11,038 to 8,630.

 

According to the State Customs Service, in 2024/25 MR (as of October 16), Ukraine exported 12.483 million tons of grain and leguminous crops (7.69 million tons for the same period last year), in particular, in October - 2.035 (0.937) million tons.

 

Compared to the previous season, exports increased:

  • wheat - from 3.927 to 7.081 million tons,
  • corn - from 2.995 to 3.543 million tons,
  • barley - from 0.65 to 1.588 million tons,
  • rye - from 0.8 to 10.6 thousand tons.

 

In the first half of October, the average daily transfer of wagons on the western borders increased by 20% compared to the previous month to 248 wagons/day, in particular on the Slovak border - by 31%, Hungarian - by 74%, while it decreased by 15% on the Polish border. and in Romanian by 11%, Spike Brokers reports. Transportation tariffs, depending on the direction, decreased by $2-5/t, although the market expected their increase.

 

Currently, the rates for transportation by Ukrainian wagons are:

  • Zhytomyr region - border $17-20/t / port $22-25/t,
  • Chernihiv region - border $20-25/t / port $22-27/t,
  • Cherkasy region - border $22-26/t / port $18-23/t,
  • Ternopil region - border $14-19/t / port $21-24/t.

 

Market rates for transportation by Eurocars from Chop are:

  • until Mon. Italy – 44 €/t,
  • north-western Germany – 50 €/t,
  • center. of the Netherlands - 60 €/t.

 

According to Spike Brokers, in the first half of October, the volume of exports of agricultural products by road vehicles increased by 15% compared to the same period in September and amounted to 170 thousand tons, in particular through the Romanian border - by 50% to 52.6 thousand tons, Hungarian - by 39% to 18.3 thousand tons, Polish - up to 64.9 thousand tons, Slovak - up to 11.9 thousand tons, while exports across the Moldovan border decreased by 6% to 21.6 thousand tons.

 

Rates for transportation to deep-water ports during the week also increased by $2/t.

 

Market rates for transportation by dump trucks:

  • ex. Ukraine — center/mon. Italy — 140-160 €/t,
  • ex. Ukraine is the center. Bulgaria — 95-115 €/t,
  • ex. Ukraine — east. Germany — 130-150 €/t,
  • center. Ukraine — south Romania — 90-110 €/t.

 

Market rates for car transportation:

  • center. Ukraine — Danube ports — $40-45/t,
  • center. Ukraine — Odesa ports — $30-37/t.
