Ukraine almost completed the sowing of spring grain crops

the Ministry of agrarian policy reported that as of 23.05.18 Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Lviv and Transcarpathian region completed sowing of spring grain and leguminous crops.

in General specified crops sown 6.9 million hectares or 95% of the planned sowing of 7.4 million hectares, in particular:

barley - 1.5 mln ha (96%),

oats - 190 thsd ha (93%),

peas - 418 thousand hectares (99%),

corn and 4.4 million hectares (96%),

buckwheat - 75 thousand hectares (50%),

millet - 34 thousand hectares (60%).

Also sown:

soybeans 1.6 million hectares (83%),

sugar beet 280 thousand hectares (94%).

In Russia, spring crops were sown 63.6% of the forecast at 33.9 million hectares, against 37,1 million hectares in 2017.

While spring grains and leguminous crops sown 62.1% of the forecast of 19.3 million hectares (22.4 million ha in 2017), in particular:

barley 6 million ha (78,6%) compared with 6.2 million hectares in 2017;

corn 2.3 million ha (78%) against 2.6 million hectares in 2017;

rice 153,4 thousand hectares (83,3%) vs 143,9 thousand hectares in 2017.

Also sown:

soy 1.7 million hectares (63.5 per cent) compared to 1.5 million hectares in 2017;

summer rape 878,3 thousand hectares (83.6 per cent) against 662,2 thousand hectares in 2017

sugar beet 1.1 million hectares (101,7%) against 1.2 million hectares in 2017.
