Ukraine should prepare an alternative to the grain agreement - believes the ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey

After May 18, Russia may block the operation of the grain corridor, so Ukraine needs to develop alternative grain export routes now, - said Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey V. Bodnar at a briefing in Ukrinform.

"We have to develop alternative export options in case the Russians block the grain agreement again on May 18. Intermediaries do not support Russia's actions, but it is not known whether they will be able to influence the situation, especially given the political tensions in Turkey, where presidential elections will be held in May. as well as the lack of levers of influence at the UN on the Russian Federation," the ambassador added.

Variants of where the ships will go and whether they will enter the ports at all, if the Russians block the grain initiative or threaten the ports, are currently being calculated and prescribed in the emergency plan.

We will remind that the Russian Federation threatens to terminate the grain agreement concluded with the mediation of the UN and Turkey in case of non-fulfillment of its requirements, and has already sent a letter to the SCC of the Black Sea Grain Initiative with a warning about the registration of vessels only until May 18.
