Russian strikes on Odessa, Chornomorsk and civilian ships will lead to further increase in freight and decrease in export prices

As a result of the Russian attacks on December 12 with missiles and mortars on the civilian port infrastructure of the Odessa region, the Odessa and Black Sea ports were damaged, and the entire Odesa was left without electricity and water.

In the Odessa port, an employee of a private company was injured (he was provided with medical assistance) and port infrastructure was damaged.

A ferry under the Turkish flag was damaged in the Black Sea port, a fire broke out on board one of the vessels, but according to preliminary data, there are no injuries.

According to a Ukrainian Navy spokesman, three Turkish ships were damaged on Friday as a result of Russian attacks on ports in the Odessa region.

It is worth noting that it was on December 12, during these attacks, that Turkish President Erdogan met with Putin in Turkmenistan at an international peace and security forum.

And already on December 13, the Russian Federation, using a UAV, attacked the Turkish ship VIVA, which was heading from Ukraine to Egypt with a cargo of sunflower oil. The passage to the sea took place through the Ukrainian grain corridor, and there were 11 Turkish citizens on board the ship, the Ukrainian Navy reported .

"The strike was carried out in the high seas in the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine, outside the scope of Ukrainian air defense. Once again, the Russian Federation is grossly and cynically violating the norms of international maritime law. Such actions directly contradict the fundamental principles of freedom of navigation and are a blatant violation of the San Remo Guidelines," the message says.

According to the Navy, the ship's crew was not injured, and it continued its journey to its destination port, Egypt.

The continuation of the Russian Federation's attacks on Ukrainian ports and civilian vessels located there will continue to increase the cost of insurance and, accordingly, the freight of vessels, which in turn will sharply reduce the purchase prices of exporters, especially against the backdrop of falling world prices.
