Argentina could harvest record corn crop this season

Experts at the Rosario Grain Exchange have raised their forecast for corn production in Argentina in the 2025/26 MY from 68 million tons to a record 70.5 million tons, compared to July estimates, due to an increase in the estimate of the area sown under this crop, Reuters reports.

Currently, corn in the country has been threshed on 75% of the planned area, which is inferior to last year's pace, as a very rainy and warm July delayed the harvest.

 

The exchange's experts also released forecasts for Argentina's corn and soybean harvests in the 2026/27 MY, with sowing to begin in September and October, respectively. Corn acreage is expected to decrease by 7.3% compared to the previous season to 600,000 hectares, with a yield of 66 million tons, while soybean production is estimated at 48 million tons.

 

Experts believe that the El Niño climate phenomenon will help avoid moisture deficits during sowing and during the development period of the crops mentioned.
