In the new season Ukraine may reach a record level of grain production and export

Against the background of favorable weather, grain production and export forecasts from Ukraine in 2021/22 MG will be able to reach, or even exceed, the record levels of the 2019/20 season.

According to the Ukr Hydrometeorological Center, Ukraine can raise 75.8 million rubles. tons of grain in 2021 compared to 65 million tons. tons in 2020, and 75.08 million tons in 2019, including: wheat 28.5 million tons, corn 37.1 million tons and 8.3 million tons of barley.

According to the forecast of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), wheat production in Ukraine may reach the level of 29.5 million tons, and corn 37.3 million tons.

It should be noted that in 2020, Ukraine collected 24.9 million tons of wheat and 30.3 million tons of corn, and in general, for the 2020/21 season, exports amounted to: 16.64 million tons. tons of wheat, 23 million tons. tons of corn and 4.21 million tons of barley.

Ukraine exported more than 44 million tons of grain and leguminous crops in 2020/21 MG, against a record 57.2 million tons in 2019/20 mg and 50.4 million tons in 2018/19 MG (39.4 million tons in 2017/18 mg and 44.4 million tons in 2016/17 MG). At the same time, the export of wheat and corn did not reach the limit predicted in the memorandum between market participants and the relevant ministry.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy predicts grain exports from Ukraine in 2021/22 MG at the level of 56 million tons.

On July 5, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and food of Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding on the maximum volumes of grain exports in the 2021/22 season with market participants. This was reported by the press service of the European Business Association.

"This memorandum is one of the main factors in maintaining the balance between domestic grain consumption and Ukraine's export opportunities for the eleventh consecutive year. The document is designed to ensure the predictability and flexibility of the market in grain exports, which are important factors for successful export activities," the EBA stressed.

Recall that the maximum volume of grain exports is determined by the annex to the memorandum, which is usually agreed before mid-August.
