The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine does not expect any significant changes in the structure of sown areas in 2025

After a working trip to Berlin and participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitaliy Koval, held a meeting to discuss preparations for the 2025 sowing campaign. It was noted that Ukraine has enough fertilizers and fuel to carry out the sowing campaign, and the sown areas remain at the level of last year, except that the areas under soybeans will slightly decrease, while the areas under corn will increase.

 

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in 2025, more than 23 million hectares will be sown with agricultural crops, of which 38.7% or 8.8 million hectares will be oilseed crops, and 48.1% or 11 million hectares will be grain crops, in particular 5,241.5 thousand hectares of winter grains and 5,825.5 thousand hectares of spring grains.

 

It is expected that for the 2025 harvest, the following will be sown:

  • corn – 4,145.5 thousand hectares;
  • spring barley – 790.2 thousand hectares;
  • spring wheat – 222.7 thousand hectares;
  • peas – 216.5 thousand hectares;
  • oats – 161.6 thousand hectares;
  • buckwheat – 86.8 thousand hectares;
  • millet – 85.5 thousand hectares;
  • sunflower – 5,171 thousand hectares;
  • soybeans – 2,422.6 thousand hectares;
  • spring and winter rapeseed – 1,167.2 thousand hectares.
