In the 2025/26 MY, Ukraine exported 25 million tons of grain, but the structure of sales markets has changed
In the 2025/26 MY, Ukraine exported more than 25 million tons of grain crops, including corn - 14.24 million tons, wheat - 9.9 million tons, barley - 1.38 million tons, reports Latifundist .
The pace of corn exports was uneven - after the September minimum (42 thousand tons), in January it reached a peak of 2.82 million tons, and in February-March it decreased to 2.7 million tons. Almost 44.7% of the exported volume was delivered to the EU countries, 38.8% - to Asia, 16% - to Africa, and the main buyers remained Turkey, Italy and Spain. Prices fluctuated in the range of $ 208-212 / ton during the season.
Wheat exports peaked at 2 million tonnes in October, then gradually declined to a low in January and February, and partially recovered in March. The main buyers were African and Asian countries, in particular Egypt, Algeria and Indonesia, while the EU accounted for only 7% of exports. Wheat prices remained stable at $217-224/t.
Barley exports were most active in the summer, then gradually decreased, and in the winter months fell to a minimum level, although in March there was an increase in supplies. The main buyer was China, whose share in total barley exports was over 33%.
In the current season, the main buyers of Ukrainian grain were countries in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. The largest importers remained Turkey and Egypt, with a share in total exports of about 30%.
It is worth noting that the structure of sales markets has changed: deliveries to Turkey and Algeria have increased and shipments to Spain have significantly decreased, which indicates a reorientation of Ukrainian grain to traditional price-sensitive markets.
