Argentina will harvest a record corn crop in 2025/26 MY

According to the forecasts of the Argentine Ministry of Agriculture, in 2025/26 MY, thanks to favorable weather, increased sowing areas, and increased yields, the country will harvest a record 71.5 million tons of corn, which will exceed the USDA forecast (63 million tons) and will exceed the 2024/25 MY by 22 million tons.

 

Currently, corn in the country has been threshed on 75% of the projected area, and threshing data confirm the forecasts.

 

In the 2025/26 MY, the area under corn in Argentina increased by 26.1% compared to the previous season, from 9.2 to 11.6 million hectares, and the average yield increased from 6.9 to 7.24 t/ha.

 

The agency notes that the increase in sown areas, combined with favorable weather, allowed Argentina to harvest the largest corn harvest in history and strengthen the country's position in the global grain market.

 

It should be noted that Argentina's MSG estimate (71.5 million tons) usually exceeds the USDA forecast (63 million tons), since the Argentine agency takes into account the total gross harvest, including corn used for farm feed (feed for domestic livestock), while the USDA estimates mainly commercial corn.
