In 2025, the area under soybean and rapeseed crops in Ukraine will decrease, but the area under corn will increase. This was reported by the Ukrainian Association of Agrarian Business (UKAB) on January 15.

As explained by Svitlana Lytvyn, head of the analytical department of UCAB, changes in the crop structure are largely due to the influence of the world market.

"In 2022–2023, soybeans remained almost the only profitable crop due to the favorable situation on the world market. That is why in 2024, the area under soybeans increased to a record level. However, now the situation has changed dramatically, and due to the fall in world prices for soybeans, farmers will reduce the area sown with it," she noted.

Recall that in 2024, Ukraine harvested more than 6 million tons of soybeans, which is a record.

Adverse weather during the autumn sowing campaign led to a reduction in the area under winter rapeseed. Instead, farmers plan to increase corn sowings in the spring of 2025.
"Corn sowing areas will increase as demand for this crop on the world market is growing again," Lytvyn emphasized.
