In 2025, China harvested a record grain harvest

According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, in 2025, the country's grain harvest exceeded last year's level by 1.2% and reached a record 714.88 million tons.

For the second year in a row, grain production exceeds 700 million tons, and for the 9 years before that it exceeded 650 million tons.

Compared to the previous year, the area sown with cereals in 2025 increased by 0.1% to 119.4 million hectares, and the average yield increased by 1.1%.

Rice production increased by 0.7% compared to 2024 to 209 million tons, corn - by 2.1% to a record 301.2 million tons, while wheat production amounted to 140.1 million tons, which corresponds to the level of the previous season.

High grain harvests in China and India in the past two years have significantly reduced import demand, which is increasing pressure on world prices.
