In 2023/24, Ukraine exported 57.5 million tons of grain and oil crops

In the FY 2023/24, which ended on June 30, Ukraine exported 57.5 million tons of grain and oil crops. The total harvest, according to UZA estimates, amounted to 82.8 million tons, and transitional reserves are estimated at 7 million tons.
The main event for Ukrainian exports in 2023 was the opening of the Ukrainian Humanitarian Corridor, which made it possible to export products from the deep-sea ports of Odesa by sea. The second most important factor was the introduction, in cooperation with international partners, of a new insurance mechanism for ships entering the ports of Ukraine. This made it possible to reduce export logistics costs and restore grain supplies to the world market to ensure food security for many countries.
According to customs data, in the 2023/24 financial year grain and oil crops were exported for $10.76 billion, and taking into account the products produced from them, including sunflower and other oils, meal and cake - for $17.86 billion.
Thus, out of the collected 22 million tons of wheat, 18.4 million tons worth $3 billion were exported.
According to UZA, the main buyers of Ukrainian wheat were:
- Spain – 5899 thousand tons,
- Egypt - 1721 thousand tons,
- Indonesia - 1515 thousand tons,
- Turkey - 1078 thousand tons,
- Romania - 1001 thousand tons,
- Pakistan - 814 thousand tons,
- Vietnam – 751 thousand tons,
- Bangladesh – 737 thousand tons,
- Italy – 677 thousand tons,
- Algeria - 633 thousand tons.
With the production of 5.8 million tons of barley, its export amounted to 2.5 million tons worth $376 million.
The main buyers of barley were:
- China - 702 thousand tons,
- Spain – 460 thousand tons,
- Cyprus – 221 thousand tons,
- Romania - 212 thousand tons,
- Tunisia – 137 thousand tons,
- Saudi Arabia – 132 thousand tons,
- Israel - 116 thousand tons,
- Jordan - 76 thousand tons,
- Libya - 63 thousand tons,
- Poland - 48 thousand tons.
29.3 million tons of corn were exported in the amount of $4.7 billion out of the collected 29.6 million tons.
The main buyers of corn were:
- Spain – 6011 thousand tons,
- China - 4832 thousand tons,
- Egypt - 3874 thousand tons,
- Italy – 2753 thousand tons,
- The Netherlands - 2479 thousand tons,
- Turkey - 1958 thousand tons,
- Portugal - 790 thousand tons,
- Germany - 765 thousand tons,
- Israel - 734 thousand tons,
- Tunisia - 688 thousand tons.
Export of soybeans amounted to almost 3 million tons worth $1.1 billion with a harvest of 4.9 million tons.
And the main buyers were:
- Egypt - 956 thousand tons,
- Turkey - 674 thousand tons,
- Germany - 235 thousand tons,
- The Netherlands - 203 thousand tons,
- Romania – 196 thousand tons,
- Poland - 137 thousand tons,
- Lebanon - 80 thousand tons,
- Hungary - 71 thousand tons,
- Italy - 70 thousand tons,
- Great Britain - 65 thousand tons.
Of the collected 4.5 million tons of rapeseed, 3.7 million tons worth $1.4 billion were exported.
The biggest buyers of rapeseed were:
- Germany - 1226 thousand tons,
- Romania - 609 thousand tons,
- The Netherlands - 420 thousand tons,
- Belgium – 378 thousand tons,
- France - 259 thousand tons,
- Great Britain - 148 thousand tons,
- Latvia - 89 thousand tons,
- Czech Republic – 69 thousand tons,
- Malta - 63 thousand tons,
- Greece - 62 thousand tons.
Sunflower exports amounted to only 300,000 tons with a harvest of 14.2 million tons, so the volume of its processing increased to 13.5 million tons.
