In 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia significantly increased the volume of transportation

In 2023, 148.4 million tons of cargo were transported by Ukrainian railways in all types of connections, and from March to December, the average monthly volume of transportation exceeded the corresponding indicator of 2022 by 23%.

As a result of the occupation of part of the territories of Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia cannot yet restore the volume of transportation to the pre-war level, but the activation of the Black Sea ports allowed a significant increase in export transportation.

During the 5 months of operation of the Black Sea Corridor created by the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of the ports of Great Odesa, 8.8 million tons of cargo were transported by rail, which is 8.6% more than the similar indicator of 2022, when the grain corridor was operating.

In December, cargo unloading at Black Sea ports reached a record high of 3.8 million tons since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In addition, the volume of transportation in the direction of Danube ports increased by 33%, in particular, transit through Moldova and Romania.

In 2023, the average monthly volume of cargo transported by Ukrzaliznytsia amounted to 12 million tons, and in November it reached a record 14.1 million tons. Compared to 2022, the volume of domestic transportation grew the most - by 11.4% to 84.8 million tons.

Grain cargoes in 2023 remained the main item in terms of transportation volume, as their volume grew by 5.9% compared to 2022 to 30.6 million tons.
