In 2022, Ukraine reduced its export volume by a third, although it has been increasing it in recent months

In 9 months of 2022, compared to the corresponding period last year, Ukraine reduced the volume of exports by almost a third to $33.1 billion.

The main export items for this period were: food products - $16 billion, metals and products thereof - $5.1 billion, machines, transport and equipment - $3.3 billion, and the main importers - Poland - $5.1 billion , Romania - $2.6 billion, Turkey - $2.2 billion. The share of EU countries in the total structure of domestic exports was 62%, and deliveries in this direction increased by 6% from $16.8 to $17.9 billion.

The main commodity items of domestic export were: grain crops, sunflower oil, electricity and products of the mining and metallurgical complex. Exports of metals and their products decreased the most - immediately by 54%, mineral products - by 53%, products of the chemical industry - by 46%. Whereas grain exports increased by 25% in August and by 23% in September thanks to the work of the grain corridor.

Import of goods to Ukraine for 9 months of 2022 amounted to $39.2 billion, in particular from China - $5.8 billion, Poland - $3.8 billion, Germany - $3.3 billion.

In September, the volume of Ukrainian exports in monetary terms increased by 23% compared to August, from $3.363 to $4.144 billion, which became the best indicator since February 2022, while in quantitative terms it increased by 32% from $7.29 to $9. 66 million tons

Thanks to this, the indicators of the foreign trade balance improved - if in August the negative trade balance reached $1.53 billion, then in September it was only $354 million.

Experts note the positive dynamics of the export of Ukrainian goods. If in July exports amounted to 5.79 million tons, then in August - 7.29 million tons, and in September - 9.66 million tons. This allows improving the balance of foreign trade, which, although still negative, decreased in September three times compared to August.

According to Ukrinform, in 2021, compared to 2020, the import of goods to Ukraine increased by $34 to $72.72 billion, their export by 38.4% to $68.09 billion, and the import of services by $32.9 to 7 $59 billion, and their exports increased by 14.2% to $13.16 billion.

It is very important for the economy of Ukraine that the work of the grain corridors continues, so everyone is waiting for the results of yesterday's talks between Erdogan and Putin, where this issue was discussed. We will remind that the Russian Federation put forward new conditions for the extension of the agreement on the grain corridor, which have not yet been publicly announced.
